There are two summer blockbusters showing in theaters near you: Barbie is on its way to grossing $1.5 billion worldwide. Oppenheimer is competing for second place and ultimately may pass billion dollars. One is a fun-loving simple story with a certain utopian feel. The other follows a script with a dark complex theme having a dystopian view of mankind. So, naturally, the tastes of the viewership must also be diametrically opposite. It is unlikely that the two groups of fans of these two movies will break bread, so to speak.

Why on earth are we talking about this in our very first blog in Heart Chakra Voyages?

The choices life offer us nowadays are like Barbie or Oppenheimer—extreme: all we seem to be doing is sitting in our corners and seeing what we see from there and yelling what we think from our point of view on Facebook.

We very rarely sit in a circle facing each other and try to feel others hearts.

Back to our favorite movies…

There is a significant group of people who are open to trying out both Barbie and Oppenheimer. That phenomenon is called Barbenheimer. They are willing to enjoy both without being judgmental.

Maybe we should try that too when we argue about myriad of useless things that we argue about in social media.

We, as humans, are capable of entertaining multiple thoughts in our heads simultaneously, however contradictory they first appear to be (i.e., all of us can be Barbenheimers). Haven’t we all lusted over the hot chick sitting in the front row while trying to understand Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle in our quantum mechanics class in college (maybe not exactly, maybe a bad analogy but you get the point, right)?

Heart Chakra Voyages will try to do just that.

Let’s delve into a space where authors, artists, and social activists from across the world—especially from Sri Lanka and her diaspora— share their art, literature, thoughts, and insights irrespective of race, religion, gender, seniority, political or social ideology and any other countless matters that separate us.

Whether you’re an artist seeking a platform, an author with a narrative to share, or simply a lover of Sri Lankan arts and culture, we’re eager to hear from you (whether we agree with your take or not) and showcase your work on our pages.

Let’s take Heart Chakra Voyages and break bread together regardless of whatever angle you approach life.
